M.Sc. Ksenia Radchenkova at the 5th International Scientific Conference "Legal Tradition and New Legal Challenges"

Ksenia Radchenkova stated in her presentation that throughout the history of Russian sovereignty concept formation, the constant interplay of Western tradition and Asian influence has led to a very specific understanding of sovereignty.  Russian interpretation of the concept holds a strong authoritarian connotation which is not seen in a negative light due to the strong Byzantine heritage and the line of historical attempts of the Russian state to be recognized on equal terms with Western nations.
