From July 6–10, 2026, the Section Global Governance of the University of Graz, in partnership with Yerevan State University, organized the international summer school “LAWCONRESC – Law and Conflict Resolution in the South Caucasus” at the YSU campus in Yerevan, Armenia. Building on previous successful initiatives in the region, the program brought together participants from Austria, Armenia, the Netherlands, Italy, Sweden, Montenegro, Hungary, and Ukraine.
The intensive seminar explored the multifaceted challenges of Europeanization and peace-building, focusing on Armenia as a case study for post-Soviet transition. Lectures covered topics such as international law, ethnic conflict resolution, Track 2 and 3 diplomacy, diversity management, and regional policy. Participants also engaged in field visits to the EU Monitoring Mission in Yeghegnadzor, the Office of the Council of Europe, the EU Delegation to Armenia, and the Armenian Genocide Memorial.
The summer school fostered lively academic exchange and practical insights, culminating in certificates jointly issued by YSU and the University of Graz. Students from Graz received 5 ECTS credits for their participation. The event highlighted the importance of international collaboration in addressing conflict resolution and Europeanization in the South Caucasus.
