Jürgen Pirker at the University of Poitiers (France)

From 1 to 6 December, Professor Pirker is bringing to the University of Poitiers his long-standing academic and practical expertise in minority-rights protection, constitutional law, and linguistic diversity. His course Safeguarding Europe’s Linguistic Heritage builds on his work with the Council of Europe’s Committee of Experts under the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages, offering students an in-depth examination of language protection and cultural pluralism in Europe. In Legal-constitutional Foundations of Europe, he guides students through the continent’s constitutional and institutional architecture, analysing the intersections of law, history, and politics in shaping Europe’s legal order. Taken together, these courses foster both a rigorous understanding of Europe’s legal-constitutional foundations and a heightened awareness of the protection of linguistic and minority rights.
