On June 27, 2026, Ksenia Radchenkova presented the newly published volume China and the World: New Perspectives on Classical Topics (BRILL, 2026) at the Bella Volen Gallery in Vienna. As co-editor of the book, together with Professor Franz Winter, Radchenkova introduced the audience to the volume’s innovative approach to China’s global role, emphasizing how Chinese scholars reinterpret their own traditions to address contemporary questions of law, governance, and international order.
During the event, Radchenkova delved into her own contribution to the book, “The Conceptualization of Internal Sovereignty in Chinese Historical Discourse.” She highlighted how historical narratives and classical concepts such as tianxia (“all under Heaven”) continue to shape China’s understanding of sovereignty and its approach to global governance.
The panel discussion featured distinguished speakers, including Helena Chang, Bella Volen, Xiangyu Wu, and Harvey Dzodin. Each panelist offered unique insights into China’s revival of classical concepts and the country’s strategic use of philosophy and law for national rejuvenation.
