The wars in Ukraine and in Gaza following the Hamas massacre on 7 October both highlight the limitations of resolving armed conflicts with arms.
This event discussed the need for diplomacy and peace mediation in today's conflicts. It explored the different forms and levels at which dialogue can bring adversaries together and create entry points for conflict resolution, be it at the level of decision-makers or civil society, be it at the international, national or local level.
The event was organized by the Department of Global Governance (Institute of the Foundations of Law) at the University of Graz, the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver, the Herbert C. Kelman Institute for Interactive Conflict Transformation, and the Conflict – Peace – Democracy Cluster.
