Chinese Modernization and its Relevance for International Relations

In this Global Governance Lecture, Prof. Ouyang Kang (Huazhong University of Science and Technology) presented the main characteristics of Chinese modernization and the concept of a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity. Presentation was followed by a discussion with Prof. Franz Winter (Institute for Religious Studies, University of Graz).

Prof. Ouyang Kang is a former Vice President of Huazhong University of Science and Technology (HUST), Director of the Institute of Philosophy, President of the National Institute of Governance, Director of the National College Student Cultural Quality Education Base and a Chief Editor of the Journal of HUST for Social Sciences. Dr. Ouyang is a leading scholar in the fields of national spirit, cross-culture studies, social epistemology, social information and philosophy in China.

In his lecture "Chinese Modernization and its Relevance for International Relations," Ouyang touched upon the questions of China's decline and rise in the process of world modernization since 1840, main contribution of the Chinese modernization to the globalization today, the "World View (the View of Tianxia)" in Chinese culture, and the construction of a Community with a Shared Future for Humanity.

The presentation was followed by an inspiring discussion with Prof. Franz Winter (Institute for Religious Studies at the University of Graz).
