On the 2nd of February, as part of this event, Dr. Aistė Mickonytė held a presentation on "Women's Rights in Europe. The EU, the Council of Europe and the Istanbul Convention". She discussed the diverse set of instruments of the EU as well as the Council of Europe, with a focus on the prohibition of discrimination under EU law. Likewise, she highlighted the core aspects of the European Social Charter (ESC) as well as the Istanbul Convention. In doing so, Aistė Mickonytė addressed the capacity of EU law and the ECHR to establish subjective rights of individuals, as well as the obligations of States underlying the ESC and the Istanbul Convention.
