Strengthening Equality Bodies: the 2024 EU Standards Directives
Equality Bodies have played a crucial role for promoting equal treatment and for combating discrimination. The 2024 EU Standards Directives laid down minimum standards for the functioning of these bodies so as to improve their effectiveness and to ensure their independence and the human, technical, and financial resources that are necessary to perform their duties. This lecture will focus on the current types and characteristics of Equality Bodies and on the impact of the Standards Directives, which must be implemented by EU Member States by June 2026.
